KELP is essential in Beauty Therapy

Brown algae (Ascophyllum nodosum and Fucus) has long been used in beauty therapy internally and externally. For external applications it is used as creams, extracts and jelly. In SPA treatments it is used in the form of anti-cellulite tonics and scrubs.

What does brown algae do:

  • improves metabolic processes in the skin,
  • contribute to the regulation of lipid metabolism and strengthen the structure of the skin, smooth the skin, increase its immunity,
  • restores water-lipid balance of the epidermis, protects the skin from dehydration and dryness,
  • remove toxins and excess sebum,
  • perfectly clean, refresh and tone the skin,
  • improve blood circulation and microcirculation in the tissues,
  • reduce swelling and stimulate intracellular processes,
  • increases hair growth.

How does this work?

  • Brown algae's oil smoothes skin and slows the aging process thanks to alginates. Remember, how you see the seaweed at low tide? - Wet. And without water, they are capable to stay like this from a few hours to several days. This property of brown algae (Ascophyllum nodosum and Fucus) is due to alginic acid - it retains moisture and prevent seaweed from drying out. In the same way alginates act on our skin. The skin, like ripe fruit, is fresh, supple and youthful for as long as it is full of moisture. As the drying fruit shrivels and the skin with age, losing the ability to hold moisture, it wrinkles.
  • Alginic acid is a natural enterosorbent. It binds and removes from the body toxic products, bile acids, radionuclides, cholesterol and carcinogens, which beneficially affect the condition and colour of the skin, improves hair growth and strengthens nails.
  • It is also effective in the treatment of cellulite, because it stimulates local blood circulation and metabolic processes in cells. It is no accident that anti-cellulite wraps with brown algae are one of the most popular procedures in cosmetic and beauty spas.
  • Traditionally, in the coastal regions of the oriental countries brown algae was used to combat hair loss. Extracts of seaweeds and shampoos based on it improve the structure and strengthen hair roots and stimulate their growth and eliminate dandruff. It also stimulates the metabolism in the scalp and enhances tissue regeneration.
